Stuart Semple is a Scottish session drummer and percussionist who brings his own inimitable style and musicianship to a host of musical genres.

Stuart trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.  Stuart also studied extensively with one of the most sought after and respected Drummers in the world, Jim Blackley, in Canada.

Having also studied in Cuba and North Africa, and privately with the likes of Sly and the Family Stone’s Andy Newmark. The extent and breadth of his studies, together with a natural flair, has meant that Stuart has since become one of the most skilled and talented drummers of his generation.

The list of people Stuart has worked with is a catalogue of undoubtedly impressive names from the music and entertainment world – including Rick Wakeman, Ben Folds, Alan Cumming, Meow Meow, Danny Elfman, Trevor Ashley, Ute Lemper, Maria Nayler, Stuart Murdoch, Katherine Jenkins, Ali McGregor, Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson, Paul O’Grady, King Creosote, Anoushka Shanker, DJ Yoda, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Improbable Theatre, Mr McFall’s Chamber and La Clique. Stuart also plays and tours regularly with top flight Orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Ulster Orchestra, Scottish Opera and The Heritage Orchestra.

Stuart has performed at The Met, The London Palladium, The London International Jazz Festival, The Glasgow International Jazz Festival, Edinburgh International & Fringe Festivals, Brighton Fringe, BBC Proms, Celtic Connections, for Théâtre du Châtelet, BBC television and Channel 4 and in London West End musicals.
